How to Play Playoff Fantasy Football
Last updated: August 2026
Here's exactly how to get started with playoff fantasy football on FantasyAtlas, from choosing a format to tracking your standings through the Super Bowl.
Step 1: Choose your format
All three formats are free to start. If you want zero setup, pick One-and-Done. If you want to draft against friends, pick a Snake Draft League. If you'd rather just pick winners, pick a Bracket Pool.
Step 2: Create or join a contest
Every format lets you either start your own or join an existing one: a friend's league, a public league, or a shared bracket pool.
Step 3: Make your picks or draft your team
This step looks different per format. Do it before the round you're entering locks, since you can't submit picks or make changes once a round starts.
One-and-Done, step by step
- Create a lineup with default settings (free) or, with PRO, a custom roster/scoring format.
- Each round, pick one player who hasn't been used yet.
- Watch your points come in as that player's real game is played.
- Repeat each round through the Super Bowl.

- Set a draft date and time.
- Draft your full roster in the live snake draft.
- Set your lineup each round and track your score against the rest of your league.
Bracket Pool, step by step
- Create a pool (free for everyone) or join one you've been invited to.
- Pick a winner for every playoff game before it kicks off.
- Score points as each round's results come in.
- Track your rank against the rest of your pool through the Super Bowl.
